farewell, friend

photoAfter 15 years at the helm of American magazine, editor in chief Linda McHugh retired her editing pencil last week. Linda published 39 magazines in her time at AU and oversaw the redesign of American last year. She’s a creative force who loves colorful words and beautiful design—so it’s no wonder her plans for retirement include crafting and blogging. Next year, she and her husband Joe will head to their beloved Cape Cod.

An accomplished milliner, Linda wore many hats as editor. She was our cheerleader, our sounding board, our critical eye, our voice of experience, our comic relief. She will be greatly missed but rest assured, we’ll continue to deliver a top-notch American magazine. Linda trained us well.
